National Guard is, by law, to defend the country and respond to declared state emergencies such as natural disasters.

They didn't turn and bite anybody in New Orleans except the law abiding citizen. The members of the national guard had no problem kicking doors down and confiscating guns from the people there during the big storm. The national guard will do what they're told to do and they've proved that in New Orleans. They are not here to protect the citizens.
