Well, this was a surprise. I was digging around in the safe a little earlier today and cleaning some guns I've not seen in a while and come across an old .22 rifle that I bought from a guy in MIssissippi back in 2009 and for some reason I remembered it being an old Savage .22 Rifle. I got to looking and it's a Remington Model 12, .22 short, long and long rifle, serial no. 716187.
How could I not remember this? Hum I better do some more digging in there hard telling what I may find. Oh well, it's not in great condition but it's not bad for it's age.
I can't find the serial numbers listed for this rifle not even in the serial number sticky at the top of the forum page. I did find where they were manufactured from 1909 to 1936. Serial no. range Starting: 00001 - Ending: 831,759. So I would guess this one was manufactured sometime in the 30s?
I also found the grades offered. I wonder how it can be determined what grade it is if there's only Model 12 stamped on the gun with no suffix letter such as A, B etc.?
Grades Offered:
12A Standard Grade,
12B Gallery Special,
12C Target, 12C N.R.A. Target Grades.
(12CS, DS, ES, FS chambered for 22 Rem Special cartridges)

It should have a date code stamped in the bottom of the barrel.
