Cut down 1917 Colt?

Looks to me that the barrel was cut. It was then nickle plated over rust (front sight.)

Well, nowhere did he state the finish was original. Everything he said was basically true, although I don't know if an Army 1917 Colt is rare. It has no collectors value, but it may be worth that for a big bore carry gun.

I Googled "Colt 1917 snub nose and found dozens of pictures of a snub nosed version 1917 although, none with a front sight like that one.

I don't know if I'd pay $575.00 for that gun.  It is pretty well done though.  I probably would.

I have noticed similar things happening at our local shows, (we have had a run of shows, over the last couple of months). Folks asking crazy prices, for run of the mill stuff. With no collectors value, and selling it. Seems way to many folks, have fell off the turnip wagon with a pocket full of dinero. Landed on their noggins, and got a wild urge to acquire a gun.

....Obvious it was cut. I "think" the barrel  length for the Army Colt was 5 1/2" or 6" with the target model barrel being a bit longer. Kinda different  back then for a combat revolver  to be chambered in 45acp instead of 45lc,  when "bigger is better" was in its hay-day...

LEADING statement,imo, why not put refinished in nickle? Don't care but imo, not the correct for a business title.

If it went low enough it could have been a candidate for a Bubba Fitz Special. Nothing to lose in this condition.

Well, I guess when you figure most 1917 Colts were blued it can be said that finding one in nickle is "rare".  Ruined, but rare.
