An underated movie about William F. "Bull" Halsey. The Battle in the Pacific, specifically Guadalcanal. (My Dad fought in that Theatre during WWII.) Underwent Airborne training on Japan as/during "Occupation Forces," duty immediately following the war. I have a huge photo album of his training, and his Buddies. [As an aside he was at Bikini Atoll and the various other Nuclear tests done in that area at that time. Went from there to Alamagordo/White Sands and was present for the subsequent tests.]

1960. James Cagney, Dennis Weaver, Ward Costello.

A very good movie if you have not seen it.

agree 100%...movie just didn't focus on shipborne duty.   brought out his land based command activities.  on my favorites list.  theUSNA choir accompaniment adds the right touch to the movie.

    Great flick.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

It’s a good one. Have it saved on DVR.
