Drivers License for Veterans

I went to the Court House (County) to get my, KY Drivers License renewed, and asked to have Veterans status added. She had no clue what I was asking about. She looked it up and needed to see DD214. I keep a small laminated copy in my wallet (Handy.)
My VA Status add, and she thanked me for my Service. As I was leaving she was placing a notice on the board to have Veterans ask for this to be added to their DL.

I have the new NC Drivers Lic that is supposed to get you through the airport faster or whatever. I had to show several different thing to prove my identity one of the thing I used is my Military ID(Retired). I had my DD 214 too just in case and they m arked my NC Lic Veteran.
I just renewed my license in August. They asked me if I wanted the "enhanced" version. I asked them why I needed it.
It will get me through the airport faster. I don't go to airports anymore.
It will get me into a federal building. If I am wanted in a federal building, I am pretty sure I will have an escort bringing me in.
If my VA ID card gets me into the VA hospital, I am good to go.
My military retirement card will also get me anywhere I want to be.
If I can't get in with those, I will not go in. Whoever is inside that needs me can come out on the sidewalk and talk with me there. No need for the king to lower the drawbridge for little ol' me.
I would also guess that it could help with a borderline traffic ticket where the deciding police officer has a soft spot for veterans.
Or NOT!
Not sure if the state of Michigan does anything special to a D\L for a vet. Will find out this next Feb. when my renewal comes due.
Yes, Michigan will add it in red down at the bottom of the license. Just take your DD 214 with when you go in.
Oregon marked my license with Veteran when I showed them my DD214. 10% discount at both Lowe's and Home Depot.
I am absolutely positive I got a break, 97 in a 65 on my 75th birthday.
I did get my new drivers license updated with veteran designation. Only had to show my VA ID card. Also have a USAF special license plate on my pickup truck.
