I am trying to find out info on this old pistol I came across when I bought a lot of pistols, there are no markings at all but a "1" on the side and that is it. don't have any thing showing who built it. Can anyone help ? you pull the brass knob to break open the barrel.

added I am interested in the "mechanism" under the grip as in type mainspring; not markings which you stated weren't there.
added 2 Ok I see them now after logging out clearing my computer shutting it off and restarting. I still think is made on a S&W or clone pistol remnant. No telling who or when Bubba was. Likely safe enough to shoot if it locks up tight. I'd start with CB caps and move up slowly in power, paying attention to spent brass for anomalies and extraction pressure.
Well I tried to delete this post to no avail, I updated my first post as added 2.
