I found this old air gun to be interesting...

Never seen one of these, and just happen to come across it. If the history is correct, it sounds like one heck of a fun time..

I have a very old Sheridan Silver Streak.  Had it serviced awhile back and as good as new!  As a kid shot rabbits, crows & squirrels with it!

neat old air gun  thanks for the article
. I have read they have some large caliber ones now they hunt with that are quit powerful also
I remember being surprised not that long ago   when reading that Lewis and Clark took them ( air rifles )  along on there cross country  trip and used them to not only hunt  with but dazzle and impress the native Americans

I rebuilt 100's of air rifles back in the day.  It does look interesting, but that wall of block text is too hard to read, so I'll pass.
Yes I enjoyed the Lewis and Clark air rifle story in like old Gun Digest.  IIRC 50 cal. requiring 1000 strokes to charge it.  5 shots a full power then trailing off rapidly.  One shot a deer and the other got a goose out of the air with it.  The Indians were greatly impressed by it.

Agree 100% about the all caps description. It does take some sifting thru to get down to the important stuff. As for the L&C gun, here's a replica:
