little boy across the street, about 10-12 has a minibike, he rides it up and down the street all the time, sounds about like a lawn mower just moves a lot faster.  he will ride till he runs out of gas, his folks only let him have one tank full at a time, usually lasts about half hour to 45 minutes,  It used to frustrate me till I sat on the front porch and watched him one day, brought back childhood memories for me and I can put up with the noise for less than an hour if it makes him happy........

Only in WVa. In Virginia and most other states the little boy would be in jail.

Agree.  I have no desire to live in a world where kids can't be kids.

I'd sure rather see a kid outside doing fun stuff than inside in front of a video game!!  Getting to be kind of rare these days!

I was lucky enough the have parents that had a cottage on the Canadian side of Lk Huron. At age 9 my dad got me a Class A racing runabout and my life changed completely.  I could make the run from the cottage to the marina for fuel (one gal tank on top of the Merc KG4 motor), fill the now empty tank with the remaining gallon I had in my 'auxiliary' tank, refill the aux tank (I'm thinking it cost 75 cents for two gallons of 260 + a pint and a half of oil) and repeat.  I could/would do that as long as the money lasted.   I'd drone around Oliphant Ont all day if I could.   Fast forward 30 some years when I was at a BBQ at a friends house across the street from a nice little lake.  There was a 'kid' droning around that lake in his 'racer' and the music to my ears had me grinning.  Disgusted, my friend asked 'how long can he do that?'  "ALL DAY!" was my answer (or as long as he had fuel)
At least the kid with the minibike isn't glued to a damn game station.

Around age 14 or so everyone of my buddies got the motorcycle / mini bike fever . We all managed to wind up with something to ride . Donnie has a 5 hp Rupp that blew a motor . His uncle had a 12 hp Wisconsin in the shop . With a lot of imagination engineering we managed to show horn that monster in the rupp frame . Had to run a belt drive on it . Took forever to wind up but it would prob run about 60 . Hell of a thrill on 8 inch tires

cry Havoc and let slip  the dogs of war.....
