A gun report on Remington 1911

My co-worker brought his Remington R1 Stainless Steel 1911 clone to my range yesterday.  A top gun smith did an awesome trigger job on it, the trigger was fantastic.  It shot very well with ball, JHP and 200SWC match wad cuter loads.
The issue was the Remington magazines.  They failed to feed the last round 90% of the time and failed to hold the slide open on the last shot 100% of the time, even in my MADORE wad gun the mags failed miserably.  Both guns worked fine with my McCormick mags feeding flawlessly and staying open on the last shot.
We found two issues with the Remington Magazines.  One was the spring was noticeably weaker in the Remington mags, easily felt when pushing down the follower compared to others.  The hold open tab on the plastic follower did not engage the slide stop lever properly causing the gun to close when the last shot was fired.
The gun seems okay, well made with respectable accuracy with all ammo fired.  The magazines that came with the gun are JUNK.
