HAMILTON — New information regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) has recently come to light, thanks to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH).

The NIH -- which runs Rocky Mountain Labs in Hamilton -- is reporting that recent studies found the virus which causes COVID-19 is stable for several hours to days in aerosols and on surfaces.

This information will help scientists learn more about how the virus is deposited from an infected person onto everyday surfaces in a household or hospital setting, and how long that virus remains infectious while on those surfaces.

The findings reinforce the protocol of cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects.

All knowledge is good. Since the common cold virus and some flu virus strains have the same or greater life span in the air and on surfaces it was probably a forgone conclusion. It only makes sense to do proper cleaning and sanitizing. One positive thought is by making people aware of this it may cut down on the regular flu season and deaths associated with flu as well. Bob

I thought the same thing Bob but a local family practice guy says they are still seeing quite a lot of flu, I suppose it is also possible more flu being identified by people worrying they have this instead.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
