Plant lectins are potent inhibitors of coronaviruses?

The most potent lectin against the SARS-CoV-induced cytopathicity is the mannose-specific plant lectin isolated from leek (APA) with an EC50 of 0.45 μg/ml and a selectivity index of >222. In addition, the N-acetyl glucosamine-specific lectins isolated from the stinging nettle (UDA) and from the tobacco plant (Nictaba) are also markedly active against the SARS-CoV with a selectivity index of >77 and >59,

Just run naked through a patch of stinging nettle. You’ll forget about the rest of your issues.

Looking for internal reactions not external ones. Raw Garlic, onions and other fresh salad dishes maybe more advisable here during the pandemic.

well glad to hear there is a good use for them
I still get into them around the place if I do not notice while pulling weeds   but the stinging   fades quick  luckily ( unlike poison ivy not good   )
as Kid I recall we would go fishing along the river dad would say do not get into the weeds of course when no fish are biting where do I go  as a little kid yep right into the weeds . then I  would have the nettles stinging  my arms and legs and my butt from dad  swating it for not following his orders . only took a few times to catch on

If you wash and cut leek tops up into fine strips then boil them for a few minutes, they're tender enough to eat.  There's no need to throw out half the plant.   The broth should be eaten because lectins are water soluble.

Garlic did not have much effectiveness against Covid-19 in the online research which I read.

My English GGmother made tea out of nettles.  She made it to 90 so her tea must have helped her to get there.

Eating leeks and supplementing with nettle root sure isn't going to hurt anything. Thanks for sharing this Serf.

Got some fantastic stories about what old time Texans call Bull Nettles.   Some real good ones!!!  One being about my dad and his brother and a group of ruffians that lived nearby.  :D
    What's next?

What kind of "Condensed soup," Soreshoulder? Cream of Mushroom, Cream of Chicken? Please share.

What difference does it make?  Just don't throw out the broth.  The lectins are in the broth after you cook.
