My gunshop friends are telling me

Ricci.WrightRicci.Wright Member Posts: 5,127 ✭✭✭✭
That pump shotguns and shotgun shells are moving on out. A buddy who has had a gun store for over 30 years told me today might have been the busiest day ever. I guess for folks who don't have any guns and want one quick a pump gun is easy to get. Well till they are all gone. I have two short Mosseys on consignment that will start tonight so I will watch them and see.

Not much point in buying an AR if you can't get ammo for it, or a 20 round box of .223 is priced at $20. Buckshot seems to be gone, but plenty of game loads are on the shelves...at least for now.

Buckshot in any gauge or size is mostly gone here.  I was in the local farm store today, they had about two dozen boxes total left on the shelves.  About 5 days ago, the shelf was about half full.  Ten days ago that shelf was full and had been for months if not years.   This includes the plastic boxes that were 100 round packages, store probably had 12 or more of those two weeks ago.  Now, all gone.

Online supplies of 3.5" and 3" buckshot have been sold out or very limited for at least two weeks if not more depending on shot size.   12Ga 3 1/2" #4buckshot can not be found.  Several guys I hunt with have looked everywhere for weeks and can not find a source.  I suspect that due to lack of demand, the manufactures stopped producing buckshot, and as a result means no supply for a very long time.

Just bought 20 boxes of 223.  Priced at 9.49  with a $5.00 per box mail in rebate.  That makes then $4.49.

The locals bought any 223/556 ammo, even the boxes that were $20 (or more) for 20 rounds.

I'm curious who had .223 on the shelf. You don't have to give the name of the store, but was it a local gun shop or a big retailer?

...THIS...is exactly why I keep a case of AR,  .45acp, a case of AK ammo, and...a case each of two different gauge shot shells on hand at all times....etc., etc. Ammo is at least one less thing  I have to worry myself with...plenty of other things to concern myself with...too many... ;)

I wonder how many Californians got the surprise where they got denied for ammo purchase or how many had to go home to get a passport because they don't have a "real ID"? Glad I stocked up.

Went by the local hardware store. They sell some guns and ammo in there. They still had ammo but were low on guns. I dropped off 2 shotguns (Chinese Pump and a Single Shot) I have no use for and a Winchester Ranger 30-30 on consignment.

I put reasonable prices on them. I'm not hurting for $ but might as well clear some room in the gun safe.

Of course, you must comply to all their future edicts if it gets worst. It's all for your safety and peace of mind. Suspending “habeas corpus” is coming?.

The DOJ has requested Congress allow any chief judge of a district court to pause court proceedings “whenever the district court is fully or partially closed by virtue of any natural disaster, civil disobedience, or other emergency situation,” according to draft language obtained by Politico. This would be applicable to “any statutes or rules of procedure otherwise affecting pre-arrest, post-arrest, pre-trial, trial, and post-trial procedures in criminal and juvenile proceedings and all civil processes and proceedings.” They justify this by saying currently judges can pause judicial proceedings in an emergency but that new legislation would allow them to apply it “in a consistent manner.”

I was considering buying on GB today or tomorrow but wondering if it will get here before our Governor orders a quarantine and stops gun sales.   It seems it will be here sooner than later.  I was in a gun shop on Friday and the owner said he hasn't been able to get shotgun ammunition for a while, it's all being bought up.  He's selling 75 guns a day, and it's not that big a shop. Alot of first time buyers are panic buyer, many have no clue what they are buying just throwing cash or their card on the counter.  I watched several folks buy whatever the sales man handed them to look at.

Hmmm My Buddy works at a local shop, I have more than I'll ever need but could be a good time to consign a few for bourbon and bean money :)
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Yeah - all the clueless who for the most part probably shouldn't touch a gun.
Do you know any responsible firearm owner who had to run out for a firearm when this started?
I do know a few who got caught low on ammo, not firearms.
