Concrete Experts Question

grizgriz Member Posts: 425 ✭✭
I have a 13 foot diameter steel set in concrete stock tank that has started leaking from cracks in the old concrete in the bottom of the tank.  Rather than purchase and install a new tank, I was thinking a cheap and easy fix would be to order enough concrete to put 4 to 6 inches of new concrete in the bottom of the tank.  Do you think this new concrete will pull back enough from the inside of the tank as it drys to continue leaking?

Hydraulic cement and couple coats liquid rubber should do the trick

even if you put a steel mesh in a layer of new concrete i think it would crack...i had a 27x20 ' additional pad poured in front of the shop original pad and it  has cracked ..i have cleaned and added stuff to the cracks and  no  fix em ...  heat and freeze and wet keep cracks alive...maybe a spotless clean and liquid rubber ????  best stock tanks here are a polyethylene tapered side  ...straight sided tanks really get squeezed in freeze and thaw
