What's it like around your place????

I realize that some of you are used to having tumble weeds blowing across your landscape, hearing the lonesome whistle of the wind most all of the time, and rarely see a soul, but unfortunately, I'm not one of you. I do, however, live in a small town quiet neighborhood, with good neighbors who all look out for each other, and are fairly active outside once the weather gets better. But with the recent events, including the State advised "stat at home, save lives" advisory, it's like a ghost town outside. Went to the local hardware store to get a few painting supplies, and there was hardly any traffic, and the store was almost empty. Did my drywall repairs, and decided that it was time for a beer, since I was low at the house, I went out to get some. Stopped by to get some fuel while I was out, and chatted with the attendant, turned out it was a guy that I had never seen, it was the owner. Talked with the guy, and he said that between the employees who didn't want to be "exposed", and the lack of business, he decided to do it on his own. Proceeded to go into the local market to get a box of beer, hah, for once, no line... I'm amazed to see how quiet it is around here. How is it around your place?

Went to town yesterday to get three oxygen bottles filled at the welding store. I asked the fella at the store how business was. He said I was only the fourth or fifth customer of the day, and this was at 11:30. Traffic was noticeably lighter in  town. Log trucks still trundling by the house today, but even that traffic seemed a bit light.

It's is very quiet here. Most of my neighbors are retired and the few that do work are now working out of their homes. Most of us still go out in the evenings for our walk (when it cools down), and while we still chat, the 6 foot interval is being adhered to. The general topic of conversation now is what stores have what items on the shelves- Publix, Aldi's, Walmart, Target, or the Dollar Tree. Reports have toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and bottled water listed as MIA, and canned soup in continues to be in short supply, but for the most part the shelves are being restocked at night and if you do your shopping early you can get most everything you need. I'll go out tomorrow or Thursday. The local branch of the PNC bank is closed, with only the ATM's available. Who knows how many people have touched those ATMs with unwashed hands! The local post office is also closed, but the mail is being delivered as usual.

Things are fairly normal, but if the internet fails it could be a different story! Everyone is online.

It is glaringly obvious Disney world and Universal Studios have closed up shop here in Orlando.

Strange. My business is on a four lane that usually has 50000 cars a day. I sat outside and there were intervals of no cars.  Eerie.  I always wanted to be on the walking dead but this is bizzare
Although always described as a cowboy, Roswellnative generally acts as a righter of wrongs or bodyguard of some sort, where he excels thanks to his resourcefulness and incredible gun prowesses.

We live on a narrow country road with only 3 houses and 5 people + 150+ hogs. It's always Quiet here except for the wildlife, but even here I've noticed less than normal traffic on the road. My wife went to town to Kroger's this morning during "old folks hour" and managed to find a pack of TP, some paper towels, soap, my Amber Bock beer and some other essentials. We are fine so far. My only concern is that she will bring some china virus home with her and I'll wind up 6' under with all my ailments. Oh well, you got to die from something. :/

The positive side to this in Utah, FCD, is that the complete replacement of the Salt Lake airport has MUCH less traffic to complicate construction work. They're building a complete new terminal building, complete new parking garages, and all new gates while keeping the old ones open! Talk about a beehive. The traffic pattern changes almost daily as they re-route cars to accommodate cranes and such.
Until now, that is. They're down from 50,000+ passenger movements a day to under 5,000. Like yours, it's an airplane ghost town. And it looks like they'll be able to hit their target finish date of this autumn to open the new buildings. (Then start tearing down the old ones.)
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Agree. Delta and Southwest are our two biggies. In truth, I haven't heard whether SLC construction is still going full speed or if they've cut that back, also. Construction doesn't seem to be hit as hard here, for some reason. Johnny Condoseed is still working overtime.
The other ICU industry is going to be cruise lines. Lots of people are going to shy away from it if only because of the two or three ships that had the virus or were refused docking. I'm doubting very much if the 50th wedding anniversary cruise we have booked in June will happen. Delta air to Seattle, then Norwegian to Alaska? Ha!

doing my run from central WI out to western MN over the weekend , on Saturday I counted on coming traffic (I94) for 5 miles ,  total of 32 on a normal day you would see that many in maybe 1/2 mile, going thru the twin cities  at 5pm was at or more than the posted speed limit all the way around 694, will see what I90 thru Chicago is like tonight

We got a nice dusting of snow here.
Generally, a lot of lakes in this area and of course foothills to the mountains of Idaho and Canada. No humidity to speak of ever. The four seasons each have their own weather patterns which are appropriate to the season. Little to no traffic ever. I'm nestled into some of the most beautiful country and climate on earth and am within 30 minutes from anything I would ever want to get to. And less than an hour to some very remote mountain country.

Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Charleston area roads are much easier to navigate. DHEC has signs on the road saying "save lives stay home" Governor is waffling on mandatory stay home, rumor is he might pull the trigger tomorrow. I checked with my Mom and two daughters and offered them any assistance now to be ready to shelter in for a couple weeks and they all said they are good. Called my friend who owns part of the building I clean and he says he's good. HDColt51 is the only GB pal locally he has more stuff than I do and plenty of bourbon so he is good. Wait it out and see what happens . 2 of my 3 surgery centers are closed so I'm working much less.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Rush hour today was a couple of bearded turkeys crossing the street to the corn feeders.  I have not seen or heard a single car except the mail carrier.
