I guess I missed that event.

Think that was when he mentioned his granddaughter sitting on his lap looking at remote girl and people jumped all over him for it. I don't think he meant it any weird way but people really took it wrong.

I too was surprised by the attack . Folks used to be a lot more civil years ago .

I never seen the thread until it was posted by shootuadeal. IMO, Dave was the kind of guy who wore his heart on his sleeves, and always seemed to honestly care for those around him. However, some times he wasn't able to put his feelings into words, and just spoke how he felt, and sometimes it came out wrong. It happens to all of us at one time or another. I was somewhat surprised at the reaction from some of the members, especially after reading his posts for how many years and knowing how he was, and criticizing him for his effort at trying to put into words, which was not always his strong point, about how it was easier for him to explain what remote girl was, rather than how other people acted.

I don't believe for one second, that Dave was looking at pictures of remote girl with his GD sitting in his lap. Posting pics of that skank had been verboten here for many years before the forum changed. There were some folks asking about her return, and perhaps pushing the envelope with the new admins, but IIRC the threads were dialogue only.

I do believe he has some family problems ( he posted about his mother being on deaths doorstep), or possibly a new health problem of his own to deal with. I wish him the best and will keep him in my prayers.

I truly hope he comes back, the trigger that caused his leaving can be addressed by those that were WRONG, as they should do.

My mom always taught us “ if you cannot say anything good about a person , don’t say nothing at all “

Pretty good advice to live by . It has served me well for the past 60 years or so . I remember a time here when everyone kept a civil tongue in their head .

I find it disheartening that others would attempt, through trolling, demeaning comments and vitriolic interaction to drive off long time contributing Members. <\/p>

A perfect example is Oakie. A huge loss to these forums in my opinion.<\/p>","bodyRaw":"[{\"insert\":\"I find it disheartening that others would attempt, through trolling, demeaning comments and vitriolic interaction to drive off long time contributing Members. \\nA perfect example is Oakie. "Does anyone here really believe that Dave would in some way be inappropriate with his kin - or that how he tried to communicate his feelings came out as a bad optic..."
Mike, my first thought as well, and I've bit my tongue long enough. That was a low blow, and uncalled for.  Surprised and disappointed in the one that cast the first stone, especially when one had been cast the other way a few years back. An apology and correction was made then, I strongly feel one needs to be made here.

To me, Dave is one of the most trusted person on this forum.  I know at least two of the people personally who made the comments about Dave.  If I relayed the straight stuff on them, most members would never talk with them again.  One has so many problems with self control that their family life is beyond help.

Some of the members, according to their posts, are on several medications that cause problems with decisions.  Add a keyboard and some become aggressive.  Some just like to gossip.

Dave, Mike and Ken are the people that I want as neighbors, especially when SHTF.

Hope Dave is well.  We miss you Dave.

Not a one of you knows the reason that Dave is not posting. He has gone times where he did not post in the past and has always returned . Some are making accusations but refuse to name anyone. If you feel the need to accuse people of things, name the people and the crime! Y'all are doing what you claim others have done. Shame. Don

Is his name Dave ? I always figured that the DAV in DAV1965 meant Disabled American Veteran ??......if he is a disable vet that alone deserves a salute of respect from everyone on here plus a little compassion & understanding due to his health problems.

Dave may have left for other reasons.   I use to live on this site as been a member for 19 years as lost a lot of post counts some way.  I check in maybe once a week.  It would have took more than that to run him off.  The way the site has been flip floped with upgrades ran off lots.  If he wants he will post again if not then there have been thousands left through the years.   It use to be a knock down drag out on this site in the early 2000 s compared to now, not much going on.  A lot of members were shown the door and some got to come back.

With a bit over 19 years around this board, I can say there have been some times and there have been other times.  In my view recent times have been other times.  Easy to see why anyone would leave.
