Interesting story of failed coup in Venezuela.

Echoing Trump, U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper told a Pentagon briefing: 'The United States government had nothing to do with what's happened in Venezuela in the last few days.'

The U.S. State Department has yet to provide any comment on the arrests.

    From the link:
"There was no US government direct involvement in this operation," Pompeo said to reporters on Wednesday. "If we'd have been involved, it would have gone differently."

A very interesting statement.  No direct involvement rather than no involvement.

    Also:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the US was prepared to "use every tool" to try and bring back what appears to be two Americans detained by the Venezuelan regime after an alleged failed coup.

Why?  If there was no US Government involvement, who the hell cares what happens to these two idiots?

'Play stupid games, win stupid prizes' comes to minds.

Yep the days of overthrowing a government from the inside by a small force is over. Just look at Turkey for instance. Now you can be invaded by a friendly government next door for your cause and get away with it,if you have some natives to rely on like in Crimea. Even shoot down a passenger airliner or two and still walk free, ;) The United Nations is there when nukes appear in warfare . That's the reason it was formed to begin with however in my opinion
