Chauvin/Floyd - Personal History

Don McManusDon McManus Member Posts: 23,673 ✭✭✭✭
ABC and CBS news last night reported upon the estranged relationship that had existed between Chauvin and Floyd while they were concurrently working as bouncers at a MN nightclub some years ago.  Seems there was more a personal motive to Chauvin's actions than there was a racial one, albeit there may have been racial undertones.
Questions:
As new information should inform and direct actions, will this now known previously antagonistic relationship reduce the validity of the 'systemic racism in our police forces' mantra?
Is it possible in today's environment to point out such things without being shouted down as a simpleton denier?
Will BLM (no not the Bureau of Land Management) apologize for painting our brave men in blue with such a broad brush?
Lastly, rather than expensive sweeping reforms of police practice and training regimens, would it not be better for cities, police forces and police unions to make a concerted effort to weed out the bad apples?

I guess I should apologize to our moderators.

One would hope that a discussion of race relations in our country and policing policy would not be political.

I think police treating a black person any different than a white person is wrong.
Floyd had committed a crime, Walter Scott committed a crime, the kid in the park had what appeared to be a gun, Etc. Etc. Etc.
Doesn't excuse bad policing, but for God's sake find someone to glorify besides Michael Brown or George Floyd.
I can't imagine how difficult it is to be a police officer and personally I wouldn't touch that job if it paid 100K a year.
I am glad I am getting older and won't be living in this cesspool as long as the younger folks who are creating this mess.
Race relations are only going to get worse not better, what do these people think you can legislate love? IF we paid every black 100K in "reperations"  it won't fix anything, Black cities where the mayor, police chief etc etc are no better off, nothing is going to change a racist mindset and all this clamor is only making it worse.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
