Finally upgraded my tires on the F150

William81William81 Member Posts: 25,313 ✭✭✭✭
I have owned my 2015 Ford F150 for over 4.5 years.  I have no complaints about it with one exception....the factory tires that came on it have been less than stellar.  One completely blown out in the first 7K....six other flats caused by Amish nails, sharp rocks, a turkey quill and a big screw.....

I am fortunate to have a neighbor down the road with a tire business and shop on his place so he has taken great care of me...we ordered a set of General AT 10 ply Grabbers....they were put on yesterday and look and ride great..  Hopefully I won't be visiting the tire shop except to say hi !!!!

Factory supplied Goodyear Wranglers

General Grabbers...

I have GoodYear Wranglers Kevlar Load Range E's on my truck. They are great tires.

They are a knock off of the BFG K02.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

I just had to replace Michelins with 41000 miles.  Worst original set Ive experienced.

Do they come with ear muffs?

The tires on my Chevy 2500HD lasted 76k out of the dealership. Every other oil change or so I got them rotated. Also, they run with nitrofil. I really think that made a difference as well.

No big swings in psi due to temp changes and weather conditions. I finally bit the bullet and put new ones on a couple of weeks agol. Funny thing is they are the

    BFG All Terrain KO2.

Hope I get as Many miles out of them as I did the Wranglers. 20's ain't cheap.

    Those look nice William.

I just retreaded my 14 and also my 05 that I got back from my son since he bought a new car.

The 05 I did as cheap as I could since it has 219000 miles on it.

The 14 was double the price.

But, lot better tire and as Susie mentioned, 20’s are pricey.

I went with Cooper Discovery AT3 XLT on the 14.

Trail Guide All Terrain on the 05.

    The 05 is top pic

General Grabbers are an excellent value...severe snow service rated, had them on a Jeep Grand Cherokee.  Cooper Discoverer AT3s are also an excellent value.  I currently have Coopper STT Maxx on my 250 and wish I had gone a bit less aggressive.

I took a nice long drive over gravel roads, highway and off road to a favorite fishing spot...All good as far as I am concerned.  Not really any more road noise than the wranglers.  They ride differently, but after a few miles out on the highway I did not really notice....Just happy to know I won't be visiting the tire shop as often !!!!

I currently have the General Grabbers on my truck, but they are the street tread version. Excellent tire. I also formerly owned a set of the Cooper Discovery AT3's another person had posted and they were great tires as well. The Coopers had to be "force matched" by Discount Tire (Hunter Roadtouch machine) but after that, they were smooth as silk. Force matching is what is done from the factory when you buy a new vehicle. It ensures a 100% vibration free ride. Some tires will need it, some do not. Discount Tire has state of the art equipment that some tire shops do not have. Either way, I hope the General Grabbers give you the same great ride they have given me. Don
