danged heat.......

hillbillehillbille Member Posts: 14,464 ✭✭✭✭
went golfing this morning and the heat got to us after about 10-12 holes, stuck it out but am paying for it now. I drank plenty of water and gatorade but it didn't help just to much walking in the heat, my legs are cramping every time I lay down. this just plain sucks, usually takes full day to get over it and every time it happens I say I won't do that again, just wish I would learn to listen to myself............ aaarrghhhh %$&%%*#@(

Try what we do in this hot weather.  We take a cart for the 1st nine and then we walk the next nine.  With the heat we have been having no way we could walk a full 18 holes.

Its been 78 + degrees here for the last 35 days and no end in sight. I play in a Monday afternoon league and for the last 4 weeks had to ride a cart. I just don't function outside when its above 80 degrees. Supposed to be 85 here on Monday I guess I'll be riding again.

I was on the roof of the carport I just built, painting it.  My wife came out and yelled at me.  She had 2 numbers.
"Its 91 and your are 67!"

I can't believe they misspelled "Pork and Beans!"

Just got back from Golfing in Georgia, last week. Dang hot is right!!!!!!!!!! 97 and high humidity, but Donna and I did 18 holes and then hit the bar!!!!! It was so hot, this buzzard was waiting for me to drop. Even the deer weren't moving. Had to play two shots over them.

this afternoon I chain sawed two trees blocking my deer hunting area, it took about 15 minutes with my Stil 021.  I then used the brush cutter on the weed whacker for another 10-15 minutes knocking down multi-flora roses and some vines trying to grow.  It wiped me OUT.  I never did like the heat but now it just seems to drain me so fast I can't get anything done.  It was 90 with high humidity.

The air here in Kentucky in the afternoon is too thin to swim in but too thick to breath. ;)
And I've got two loads of  #3 rock to spread -- even if the tractor is doing all the work I'm sweating like I had a personal thundercloud right over me

It was only in the mid 80s here today but like bpost I had to get some chainsawing done. It is supposed to be hotter and even more humid the next few days so I wanted the work done before that. I sweated through 2 caps trying to keep the sweat out of my eyes and I hate it when it drips off your nose. 15 minutes work, 10 min break and repeat until I got it done. I sure was miserable by the time I finished but a shower, dinner and several somethings to replace the vital fluids I lost and all is well. Bob

My hearing is so bad I had to take a minute to think about what I heard and I thought she said, "Its 67 and your are 91."

I am your age but feel more like the numbers you quoted working in this heat.  Almost every day has been 90 and above for the last month with high humidity.  Yard is looking like a waste land.

Hillbille, understand I am just trying to be helpful here.

You probably have an old toilet in the yard, being it's W VA. fill that puppy with ice water and dunk your head a few times. Super refreshing.

    Just saying.

what is this toilet??? thing you talk about, I have a bathroom in the yard but it is made of wood sitting over a big hole,  ice all melted this spring won't get anymore till winter............

Should do like we use to do in Maine.  Cut big chunks of ice from the lake in the winter.  Store the ice in sawdust and you have ice until the next winter.

I don't mean to be critical, but your house seems rather small.
That was another quarantine project - convert a chicken house into a small workshop.

I can't believe they misspelled "Pork and Beans!"

Heck, in W Va an old chicken coop would be used as a "Gest Hows."
