Well this KELTEC issue did not turn out well....

As I posted before I have a KELTEC P3AT in 380.  The plastic piece behind the magazine well fell out into my pocket a while back, I put it back in thinking nothing of it.  I went to fire it, it has about 70 rounds through it, the hammer would move but not fire.  Me thinks some other parts unknown fell out too rendering the gun useless.
I was never able to get through to KELTEC on their web site and Lord knows I tried many times.
I got through on the phone to them today.  I have to pay shipping back to them for a gun that fell apart.  Well in a nutshell, heck no no freeking way.  The gun was not abused, the gun FELL APART.  I never went beyond the book recommendations on cleaning and care.  I did nothing to cause the parts to fall out.  It did not have 2 boxes of .380 factory ammo through it.  Why should I pay to ship something back that fell apart?
I am not paying 20 bucks to ship a "fall apart" gun to the maker, a gun that was bought for under 200 bucks.
It is good I purchased the S&W Bodyguard in 380 for a carry gun a couple of months ago, it WORKS.  It also fits the front pocket holster I had for the KELTEC, a bonus in my book.  I will drill a hole through the frame of the KELTEC and mount it on a wood board as a reminder to avoid cheapo guns when your life may rely on them.
I know many folks have had excellent results with KELTEC products and their warranty, I know they sell a lot of guns through GB Auction.  That is most excellent!  I hope they have happy customers.
My experience was not satisfactory, it was bad.  I will never purchase another product they make.  Ditto for Nikon since I took it in the shorts with their rifle scopes.

I've had a few KelTec in the past always had good luck with their customer service. For the few that I have owned almost all had to be sent back at least once

Probably didnt push the right belly button. Would send a letter to the CEO.  Had a Sub 2000 problem and received an RMA the same day although prior to Chinese virus.  Since the COVIBS hit, I haven't seen any Keltec products around. Dealers cant keep them.

I would not mind it if the gun had some internal part that broke, it happens but to have critical parts just fall off rendering the gun useless is another matter.  It is almost like the Remington issue with bolt handles busting off of bolt action rifles during operation.  For a critical part to fall off or in my case fall out while carrying it in a holster in your pocket is clearly a manufacturer defect by construction or design.  It should not eat my wallet to fix their issues.  Oh well, live and learn.

I've had my 1st generation Kel-Tec P-3AT since 2003 and I carry it everyday no matter what other gun I've got on me. I've never had a problem with it. I shoot it a few times a year just to make sure it's still working. I put about 200 rounds though it when I first bought it with no problems. So I don't have anything but good things to say about it.

I did shoot a spring into the twilight zone one time while cleaning the gun. I looked my garage over and couldn't find it. I crawled around on my hands and knees and looked under everything but that spring was no where to be found. I called Kel-Tec and they sent me another spring overnight no charge. I put the spring in and a couple of days later my wife found the one I lost in the living room??? She found it while vacuuming. I don't wear my shoes in the house and I know it didn't stick to my socks. Nobody else had been out in the garage besides me. So how that spring got into the house is still a mystery to me.

"  The plastic piece behind the magazine well fell out into my pocket a while back,"..................................the part didn't just "fall out", it broke and you need a new one. I've got one of these and the part you speak of is pined to the main 'hammer spring'.  the p-3at is my 'small' carry gun and I gave one to my son also, the both work well.

I have always thought of Kel-Tec guns as kind of cheapo made things.  Just a step up from a highpoint.

I have a Keltec P11, Sub 2000, and a PF 9, and I never had any issues with them. I did the "Fluff and Buff" on the P11, and it worked a lot better. Mine are all at least 6-7 years old, so that may make a difference in quality.

Real satisfied with my new P17 Keltec. Super light at 14oz and came with 3 magazines.

I fella I know bought a used, well used Keltec .380, being relatively close by, he drove to their plant have someone look at it, They replaced the barrel, grips and a couple of other internal parts and test fired it for him ......... FREE.
Personally, I have never heard any negatives regarding Keltec's customer service, to the contrary, Ive only heard good things about them.
