My debit card

armilitearmilite Member Posts: 35,490 ✭✭✭
got hacked yet again. It got it when the Home Depot thing occurred then again when the Target thing happened ( the one time I went there in 8 months ) and again when the Harbor Freight fiasco went down.
This time I don't know how it happened but they spent $228 at Subway $168 at of all places the Glock store and $330 + from Cheaper then dirt. There were a few others like Pizza Hut and the Wing Stop. The thing that pisses me off is that pretty much everyone here knows how I feel about Glocks. I haven't spent a dime at Cheaper then Dirt in about 5 years. I don't do Subway and I don't do Wings. Plus there were a few others in there as well. At least they could of spent the money at places I visit. I went to the bank the following day and got a new debit card and they said I should get my money back in 7-10 days, lets hope so.

And then the next day I came in the house and immediately went down the basement steps. I was kinda like snow blinded and I missed the last 3 steps ouch.

Hi Zink how have you been ??????? The problem with those 3 store hacks is that I was only in each of those stores one time in 8 months.

I'd check my local range to see if anyone shooting a Glock has a cooler full of sandwiches.  ;)

Well it appears all those bogus charges were out in California.

Never use a debit card!  If it gets hacked, the money is taken directly out of your account and you have to work to get it back. Use a credit card instead. If it is hacked, it is easy to cancel the bad transactions.

Or it might be this fellow:

$228 in sandwiches might be an average lunch for him.

You need to change banks if you have to work at it to get your money back on a debit card.

If my credit card gets hacked I have to call the credit card company and talk to their computer for a few minutes to get routed to the correct department that handles the card and then I'm put on hold for 10 to 20 minutes while I wait on the next available person to take my call.

If my debit card gets hacked I call the local bank branch where I have my account which is just down the road from my house and I don't get put on hold and they take care of my problem immediately. I can either drive over that day and get a replacement card or if I'm in no hurry they'll mail it to me.

If you use a credit card like Capital One you you can set up all kinds of alerts.  I get a text for each purchase.  If something is purchased from someone I don’t usually purchase from I get a text to approve the purchase.

i have a prepaid debit card only and mainly only use that for traveling when I need some cash from an ATM.  If the card gets hacked they are not getting much.
