Great song.  I love that song.
I was watching a documentary on the Mamas and the Papas.  They were interviewing Michele.
Early 1966, they had a hit, number 3 on the charts, California Dreaming.   In the span of a month, they  went from being broke hippies, crashing on a friend's couch, to pop music stars and each one owned a convertible Porsche.

Michele said they went in to the studio.   Their producer was Lou Adler.  He told them they were going to record Monday Monday.
Michelse and Cass revolted.   Remember, two months ago, homeless hippies, today, arrogant superstars.   They told Lou Adler that they had studied the lyrics, the song was incomprehensible, and they refused to sing it in the studio.
Lou Adler said to the girls, "That red Porsche you drove to the studio today, do you remember who was the producer that put your song near the top of the charts?   That was me!   I am the one who decides what songs will be recorded.  Now, get your a** into the studio and sing Monday Monday."
And they did what he said.   A month later, Cass and Michele had a Rolls Royce to park next to the Porsche.
Monday Monday was the only song of The Mamas and the Papas to ever make #1.
