"The Terror: Infamy"

Today I learnt Canada had Japo concentration camps. I wonder how much they paid out? More than US? Sooner or later than US pay day? I get to do some research. While I'm at it when did Canada became less agro and become the "sorry" (to everything) country? I reckon all those French Canadians had something to do with it.

Also seeing George Takei taking part in a movie dealing with his past must've been something. I don't think I would've.

Oh this was way better than the Northwest Passage season one. Much more creepier than the "Man Polar Bear" thing.

When I was vacationing in Vancouver in 2014, I noticed something going on at one of the local parks.

The marker is a bit tough to read, but it is dedicated to a Vancouver baseball team comprised of Canadians of Japanese ancestry, the members of which were interned.

A brief dedication ceremony followed the installation of the marker. I saw no one who looked remotely Japanese in attendance.

Why is it in French? I thought French side was on the East coast. If anything it should've been Japanese.

Quick Wiki looksey netted me some interesting info. It seems Canada indeed had Japo Concentration Camps. They also kept them twice as long as the US did. Kind a odd since the war "ended" by '45. Did they really wanna make sure it was over before kicking them loose? They must've not had a constitution or a conscience. Cheap prison labor was too good?

Seems the pay out was about the same $20K US and $21K Can in 1988 money. You would think Canada would've paid double since they held them until '49. Or was the $21K the exchange rate at the time? Need to find out how much Canadian dollar was worth in 1949.

I cannot think of any possible justification to keep them imprisoned until 1949.  Do you know what they used as a reason to keep them imprisoned that long??

Nope not yet. I just did a quick look on wiki and that caught my eye. For all I know it was a typo on wiki.
