Marlin on Marlin

Check out my "new" stock! When my father first bought me this gun, it had been in his neighbor's family for several decades. As a young deputy, a now retired Sheriff had received this Marlin 336 as a gift from his department when he recovered from a line-of-duty injury from said gun (the shooter no longer need it, so to speak ). The LEO turned it into a hunting rifle, but drilled a couple of ugly holes in an otherwise beautiful buttstock. When the gun was purchased by my father and then gifted to me, I did a lot of re-bluing of rusted areas, as well a A LOT of woodwork to refinish and repair the stocks.
I'd always wanted to put some artwork or something on there to cover and hide the holes. Fortunately, my son's fiancee is an AMAZING artist, and she accepted the challenge. It turned out EXACTLY as I envisioned, and I'm so happy & blessed to have her artwork as a part of the family, too!

I know it looks like a sailfish, but it's a marlin. Compared to my other pics of sailfish, it definitely looks different, as a marlin should.
That would be cool, too! I was thinking of a very specific Zeppelin lyric, however....
Thanks!
