ATF Form 1and making NFA suppressors

I looked it over.  It seems like you can make your own legal suppressor if you file the ATF form 1 along with your 200 bucks tax stamp.  Did I misread the form and requirements?  Making or possessing one with out the tax stamp is a federal crime, breaking federal law is a BAD idea.  From what I can glean if you do make your own suppressor out of a Maglite flashlight for instance, it would be legal to own as long as you have it registered with ATF on form 1. Any Class 3 dealers know for sure?

That is correct. So long as your state laws allow it, you may manufacture any NFA weapon- other than a machine gun, using Form 1.

Yes, it's easy to make a suppressor.  But, if you want a GOOD suppressor, that's a lot more difficult.  I once talked to a guy who makes them for commercial sale, & he had a masters degree in engineering, & a lab full of scientific instruments.  But, it sounds like a fun DIY project.
