You'd do a lot better if you had photos which showed at least a minimum of detail. Based on the four photos provided, the rifle can be identified as an M1 (with a well worn muzzle), but that is about it. I am curious about the matching stock number. M1 stocks were never stamped with a full serial number, so your serial number was added at some point after it left US service. M1 rifles returned from Denmark and sold through the CMP often had numbers stamped on their stocks, but no photo of the markings is provided to evaluate it.

I don't butt into other peoples auctions. You didn't ask for a full critique of your listing, so none is provided. Good luck with the sale.

If the serial number is stamped in this manner then the rifle is a Danish return from the CMP

Check the barrel channel of the stock for any signs of it once having had this sort of label:

My photos, my rifle. I don't entertain or "educate" by showing photos of other people's guns.

Pictures added.  Thanks for the tip.  The stock number is on the right side and there is no note inside the forend.

You are obsessing over the serial number to the point of being ridiculous. In photo 5 you are hiding the receiver drawing number. Even without removing the tape I can tell you that it is 6528291. How do I know that? It's because virtually every HRA ever made has that same receiver drawing number:

If you want help, I can give it to you.

I was thinking it probably shows buyers about what they're getting now, is there anything that stands out that is wrong?

We could save a lot of time by you simply telling me which parts, if any, are marked HRA? I'm guessing that besides the barrel, there are virtually none, so just include the word "mixmaster" (an accepted term for an M1 "mutt") in your listing and you'll save a lot of questions.

OK, thanks, I pared down the misleading information.  The barrel, receiver, and mag well are H&R, the trigger group and I believe the operating rod are SA.  I did not find any clear stamps on the stock for manufacturer.

A USGI HRA stock will have marking which are similar to these:

What is the "bolt release"? There is no bolt release on an M1 rifle, so you are describing something else. I'm not picking on you, but that question will certainly be asked. By the way, you get top marks for asking these question hours before the auction starts and no AFTER it has begun.

I pushed it and nothing happened.  I did not know it was the clip release and you had to pull the bolt all the way back for it to work.

it will not release the bolt. It will eject the clip and do nothing else.

The listing is looking better. Small detail: there is no mag well on an M1 rifle. What you call the "mag well" is actually called the receiver leg. Just so you know, all HRAs are post WWII. Only Springfield and Winchester produced M1s during WWII.

Tell me when to stop. I could do this all day. Even so, it is a wonderful break from the member uprising that was put down last night...and without bloodshed!

Thank you for the help.  I hadn't looked at that thing in a while.

It seems to be doing quite well. Good call on not "cleaning" the stock. It is always better to let the buyer mess around with the wood. 9 times out of 10, if you do attempt to clean the wood the buyer will say that you did it wrong and that he could have done it better. There are many buyers who plan to drag their rifles into the field and don't care about appearances; they are only interested in the wood having no cracks.

Thanks for all the Garand info over the years, Mr. Christian! Seems like I learn something new every time you comment. I have 3 Garands which I have had since the early '80s, mainly because of my dad, who was a Sgt. in WW2 stationed in the Philippines. He had a great deal of respect for the Garand and bought one as soon as he could after the war. More than once I went in the den and found him sitting and holding the Garand, just thinking. About what, he never said.

My pleasure. I love to talk about M1s. In a world of YouTube videos, I think that there is still a place for simple commentary along with a few photos. More to the point, SoreShoulder's rifle is doing quite well.
