The plague next door.

One of my neighbors let me know today that they had a positive COVID-19 result in the household.   They were tested because of symptoms so probably an accurate positive.   They're not that sick and hopefully no one will become so.   It's my neighbor's fiance and she's in her 30"s but his parents live with him and they're pushing 80.  Hopefully it won't hit them too hard.   My neighbor told me he has had something for a few days also and he was getting tested today.

We had some dealings about three weeks ago.  I sold him a go-cart my son had out grown and his kids are the right age to enjoy.   Hopefully that was before his exposure.

Is it really a plague? I mean it's not like they're dropping in the streets littering the sidewalks with bodies. Are they still doing mass graves or cooking more than one body in the ovens?

Dead is dead no matter what you call it.

You have a much higher chance of dying driving to the store for a 6-pack than you do from dying of COVID-19.

For the past month and a half, I've been doing an informal survey of family, friends, neighbors, and acquaintances whenever I have contact or communication of any kind with them. I ask "How many people that you actually know have been hospitalized for COVID-19, or died from it?" So far the total is exactly zero.

Plague is a disease that affects humans and other mammals. It is caused by the bacterium, Yersinia pestis. Humans usually get plague after being bitten by a rodent flea that is carrying the plague bacterium or by handling an animal infected with plague. Plague is infamous for killing millions of people in Europe during the Middle Ages. Today, modern antibiotics are effective in treating plague. Without prompt treatment, the disease can cause serious illness or death. Presently, human plague infections continue to occur in rural areas in the western United States, but significantly more cases occur in parts of Africa and Asia.

I can't believe they misspelled "Pork and Beans!"
