Stag grips

I’m thinking of making stag grips for my Colt Anaconda. Here in Alaska I’m limited though. Caribou antlers are too narrow and powdery, and moose antlers are way too wide. Walrus ribs are too thin, and have no character.
What do you guys think of elk? its big-ish and nicely textured. Are there commercial sources where I could buy a few butt pieces maybe 6” long?

The tractor supply here sells them as dog chews here. A friend of mine buys them to make knife handles. Link is for deer but they also have elk available

Good idea, thanks!
I think you could find a couple tines on a moose antler that would be just right. You need to shoot a 70 incher then take yer pick.
Very nice Mike, some of those sources look promising. Here’s what I have on my SAA now, my granddad made em. I need to make some left handed ones for my pea shooter.
I imagine I'll get some antler raw material and work them over with hand tools to get two halves, then route out the middle so they wrap around the frame. Once that's fitted I'll start with a rasp and shape them to fit my hand.
Dear Bears, please go someplace else so I can sneak over and saw off that antler! Perfect.
