I think it must be just gun to gun, you hear stories both ways, some love em, some will never buy another, I would like to shoot it first to make sure it functions fine, or have the guarantee of such........

I have one in .44 Magnum. It functions fairly well, but the sights are all messed up and there is no way to fix them. If you use the SWAG factor you can get close to te target. :o

My son has had a Rossi Ranch Hand .44 Mag. lever action rifle for a few years now and he's not had any problems with it so far. It's small and he takes it with him when he's hiking in the mountains in Washington. He's got it on his back over his right shoulder in this picture (he's on the left in the photo). All you can see is the plastic bag sticking up that he put over it to protect it during this rain storm they ran into high on the mountain during the spring time.

I've owned 5 so far (3 presently) and they all work (ed) as they should, sights are an easy fix  ;-)

I had one in 45 colt it was very picky about ammo as far as accuracy. I found that it like the Hornady pointy stuff better then anything else

Anything other than blunt nose bullets in a lever action rifle could be bad for your health.

Most I have seen turn to junk if they are going to be carried and used a lot.  For a little more dough, get a Henry.

I have a 92 in .357 once I got the DVD from Steve's guns and did a little polishing on the internals, it runs perfectly.
Rossi 92's are fantastic once you "tune" them. Check out Steve's Guns, he is the reigning expert on Rossi 92's

If someone is going to spend more then why not spend a bit more than what a Henry cost and get a quality lever action rifle, an old Marlin or Winchester that was made before they started getting a little loose with the QC and cheapened the parts.  Could be there are people that don't want to spend that much money on one which is why he asked about the Rossi which is a good gun for the money.

But if you got the money then get the best and the best wasn't made in this century.

The Marlin 1889 .38-40 on top in the photo is 127 years old made in 1893.
The Winchester '94 .30-30 in the center of the photo is 70 years old made in 1950.
The Marlin '94 .44 Mag at the bottom of the photo is practically a newbie at only 44 years old.

I have one in 44 mag, its an older one and it shoots fine.  One of the smoothest 92 style actions I have ever felt and they have good triggers.

I had one for a short time last year.  It worked well and was accurate.  The quality looked good from what I saw.

I'm still looking for one of those that Josh Randall carried.
That pistol caliber carbine that could also fire 45/70?  :o

I shoot cowboy action with my 357 Rossi 92.
It's an Interarms import. However, I'd have no issues buying a new one.

That being said those Tuned Short Stroked Uberti 1873 Winchesters are calling my name.

2 things have kept me away from Henry.
    1. Cast receivers with a brass or metal plate tacked on over them.
    2. Lack of a loading port.

They finally fixed #2. The cast pot metal receiver still turns me off though. I know their made in the USA, so is High Point.

I have a Rossi 92 in .357, they are great rifles once you tune them up a little. Very accurate and built like a tank.
