is using a well designed, well made, and well sharpened knife. I think I would be happy with that on my headstone.

i too like a good knife, try to never be without one.  have a small collection, 40 or 50 or so.  mostly Case, quite a few Bucks and other assorted brands.  Most from flea markets and pawn shops.  a few years ago a local boat dealer went out of business and i bought all the Case knives  i could afford that he had.

Never trust a man who does not include at least one good pocket knife in his daily dressing routine . Everyone needs a good knife . To paraphrase Charlie Brown “ happiness is a sharp knife “!

I have carried a pocket knife since I was about seven yrs old when my dad gave me his "old one" he had broken one of the blades on .
I am not sure how many I have maybe a dozen or so as a low ball guess
I keep one in my pocket even at home   for the most part if I am awake I have it in my pocket but also a abuser of pocket knife from scraping old gaskets , cutting stray weeds , tree branches,    to digging out splinters  also a improvised wire stripper and screwdriver  on rare occasions even use as knife . funny my wife refuses to eat any food I slice with it if were out and about and need to slice up some food stuff
currently its a case 3 blade I have had for 30 years or so

as for one of life's greatest pleasures  I am only 63 but a sharp knife has not made the top 10 list as of yet

A good knife is right up there with a sharp chainsaw.
Both put a smile on my face.
I can't believe they misspelled "Pork and Beans!"

How times have changed. I've carried a knife since grade school. If I don't have one in my pocket I feel underdressed. One of the first lessons in shop class was knife sharpening. If a teacher needed a knife all he/she had to do was ask and most of the guys and a few of the girls could loan one. Now if a kid has so much as a fingernail file they are expelled and it makes the news.👿 Bob

Brother and I took the boat out for a spin. Needed to cut some line. He asked if I had a knife. Yep. In fact had a couple. Asked him where his was located. He always has one. In his wife's purse, lol. Oops.

I keep them everywhere. Have one in each of the vehicles, one in the glove box of the 4-wheeler, have tiny one that will fit in the pocket watch of my jeans so I can fit it in the smallest of purses, have miniature multi-tool on my keys that has a knife blade.

Leatherman P4 Squirt.  Amazing little bugger, it has enough capability I could probably rebuild my engine with it.

So true. Many years ago in fact. Principle called at home. "Come get your son, he was caught with a knife 2" in his pocket. Expelled for rest of day. Went to seven room school house in Apple Grove, Virginia in 50's and I guarantee every single kid had a little Case in his pocket. At recess time if we were not playing baseball we were whittling on a stick. Lot depends on location but teachers don't teach anymore they Indoctrinate.---------------Ray
