USNavy Hospital Corpman

Sam BellSam Bell Member Posts: 1

Hello,

This is my first time. I served in the Navy from 9/56-9/62 as a Hospital corpman. Duty stations were USNaval Base, Philadelphia, Pa & USNaval Base, Philadelphia, Pa.

Any one out there who served in same area & time?

Thanks,

Sam Bell

Welcome Sir!! I did not have the privilege of serving but I have a lot of Marine friends and one thing I know for sure is that they love their Corpsmen.

Have a former Corpsmen working here with us. She joined us following a number of years of service both here and overseas. She's one you'd definitely want nearby if ya were in a bad place and got dinged up!

Wow welcome aboard and thanks for your service, I was born while you were in. Did you mean to list Philly twice as in two tours ore or were you at another station also?  I served in the Navy but much later from 77-81 mostly Charleston SC.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Welcome to the forum Sam.  I was not in the service.   I've done a lot of other things and one of them is working as a RN in several emergency rooms including the regional trauma unit.   I have this to say, the best medic I ever worked with was a Navy Corpsman.

Welcome, Doc! Served as a Seabee '65-'69. Stationed with LOTS of Corpsmen at Navy Hospital, Danang VN from Oct '66 til Apr '67. I volunteered to xfer to a detachment for my last 6 months to get away from the blood, guts, and bodies.

Welcome I an a Navy guy.  My time was a few years after yours.  I was on Destroyers for active duty.  Stayed in Reserves for another tour.  While in Reserves I did one training at the Philadelphia ship yard.  Has fond memories for me.  I came home on a weekend while in Philly and met my wife 45 years ago this year.
