I have many friends & family in Pensacola.

Here’s a few pics.

My in Laws house- also severe roof damage. This is flood damage.

My friend with a house on Pensacola beach- it is actually the backyard all the way to the boat dock.

This is actually Main St in downtown Pensacola. (Main & Jefferson)

Another friend with a place near the water- they have a canal in the backyard with Gulf access.

The “3 mile bridge” the main and primary route between Pensacola and Pensacola beach (Gulf Breeze). They just spent years building this bridge to its current state replacing the old bridge.

That is a huge barge sittin' in the front yard (2nd pic from bottom).  Gonna be interesting to see how they get that back in the water.

Great photos.  Unreal, the power of Mother Nature.
I grew up in the Atlanta suburbs.  It was boring to me.  I decided while in high school, that I would move either to the ocean, or to the mountains.
Scenes like this are the reason I moved to the mountains.

my oldest daughter lives in Milton, just a little north-east of P-cola.  she is struggling right now being without power but did not substaine  loses as in your pictures

Sadly mother nature as beautiful as it can be can also be so destructive hope and prayers for those impacted by this.

Son was down in Atmore, Alabama, after leaving South Texas beaches when it hit.  He had a home rented near Fort Morgan where it came ashore.  He got out and is now in Florida.  He had a huge fried Catfish sandwich for lunch that was scrumptious looking!  That for about half the price it would cost in Washington state...if you were lucky enough to find it.

I spent a lot of time in Atmore at the Creek Travel Plaza truck stop.   Spent the night there at least 50 times.  I wonder if that truck stop was badly damaged.
That truck stop is in the middle of the Creek Indian Reservation.   I guess those Creeks hid out in 1836 and didn't get shipped to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears.

I doubt that it was damaged, Allen.  I spoke with a lady right in that area just off I-65, and their biggest problem at the time was loss of power.  I don't know if the power is still off there or not, though.

I also don't know, offhand why some Creeks were allowed to stay in Alabama.  They might have remained when the forced removal ended in 1838.  Chief William Weatherford, aka The Red Eagle, was allowed to stay, too, and is buried in Alabama.  You will probably recall that he was a great grandfather, which number I do not recall, to GB member pwillie.  BTW, none of Paul's properties were damaged!!!

PWillie was building just up the block from where my Mom's condo was.  They sold it early last year.  (Boo)  The building is fine,  but I hear the marina is wrecked and the boat in our old slip is sunk and upside down.  I hope the guy that had the Chris Craft Constellation across from us was able to get it out of there and to a safe harbor.  My sister and parents had a fair amount of tree damage,  but no flooding.

My understanding on the damage to 3 Mile Bridge was that a floating construction crane tore loose from a mooring and was pushed into that section of the span.  The wind itself did not do that damage.  They were still working on it last time I was in Pensacola.
