Those Wacky Car Dealerships

armilitearmilite Member Posts: 35,490 ✭✭✭
So my wife bought a highly optioned 2016 Mazda CX5 about 3 weeks ago and traded in her 2007 Toyota Corolla so its a slight improvement  :o . So yesterday she gets a letter from the dealership that sold her the car stating they would give her 10% over Kelly Blue Book if she sold the car back to them. The reason being that they had other people that wanted the car. And it was a Mazda dealership she bought the car from, so didn't they think that she had wanted it as well. I have no clue as to what she paid for the car compared to what the Kelly Blue book price would be. I told her to tell them to go * themselves.

I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them. Tell them to pound sand.

Tell them she is a "Buyer" and not a "Seller".

We get monthly notices from the dealer that sold us the 18 Chevy and 19 GMC that say the same thing. Just a way to get you to trade up to a new vehicle. Probably when that new Hummer hits the showroom we will get even more sales pitches. Bob

Had a very simple time buying recently. Just showed them another dealership what they had offered.... actually too much and went from there. Ended up with a killer deal. The salesman wasn't convinced we were buyers till I pulled out the title and checkbook. No financing. No other buyers were near anywhere.

Last 6 vehicles I've bought thru a wholesaler, year old, less than 12,000 mi.  You just can't beat the deals :)

The last used car we bought was at a dealership. The salesman was a newbie and when we came to an agreed upon price I told him I only saw one set of keys for the car and that I'd need 2 sets. He said he couldn't include 2 sets of keys. So I said see ya around and walked out the door. We got in our car and I drove up the street one block and I pulled over and parked. My wife said what are you doing? I said I'm waiting for the sales manager to call because he's going to pass out when he finds out the idiot salesman let a customer with cash walk out the door over a set of keys. It wasn't 2 minutes later and my phone rang and it was the sale manager breathing hard and apologizing all over himself for his idiot salesman. He said if you'll come back in I'll knock off another hundred bucks for your troubles and include another set of keys. I said OK see ya in a minute.

The only way I buy now is doing all my research and comparing on the WWW and then going in to finalize a deal. No add ons no BS I bought my Truck and was offered a couple grand profit from Carvana as soon as I did but figured why bother I didn't want to search again and needed a truck.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!
