Crappy day yesterday

Got hit head on by a drunk driver on way home from doing errands yesterday.  Luckily we were driving wife’s Lexus.  Now ex-Lexus as it is totaled per tow truck driver.  Spent the better part of day at hospital getting wife and myself checked out.  Never was in an accident with air bag deployment.  I have to admit those are the best things they invented. The air bags deployed and deflated before we even knew what happened.

Never saw the guy coming who hit us because he came from a side street speeding because he had just caused another accident down the street.  He took off running after the accident local, state and sheriff was looking for him when we left for hospital.

Glad we are both safe just really sore this morning.  Never had to deal with a car that was totaled before.  That is a new experience that a could skip at this age.

Glad you are ok. Yea you won't see an air bag come out. I went to my first air bag class in I think the early 1980's. I hope you have uninsured driver insurance.

Best of luck to yourself and your wife unit.

I’ve never had an airbag go off, been in accidents where they should have, but they didn’t. But my wife unit was rear ended, and pushed into the car in front of her with airbag deployment, back in the 90’s.

Her whole chest was black and blue. Looked horrible.

Hope they caught the miserable SOB that hit you!

Since he popped out from the side street like that, it happened fast like mentioned and may be good you didn’t have a chance to tense up.

Was it a Lexus car or SUV you were driving?

Good luck to both of you. Please update how you make out and when he gets caught.

Glad you are able to post about it, I hope the other guy gets caught and gets the help he needs to keep him off the roads

Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Last one I had, there was a fatality. Mrs Elk didn't make it. Poor thing was lying off in the field, with her tongue hanging out. I was going 60+,  and she was a big old girl. Airbag and seat belts saved me.

Hopefully you are covered by uninsured motorist insurance. If not, be prepared to be screwed by your own insurance company. They are not your friends! I'm speaking from experience.

Thanks to all.  We are doing fine, just did not sleep last night and sore all over today.  Spent the day dealing with insurance company and getting stuff out of the car.

Below is a pictcure of the front of the car.  We were very fortunate that we were driving the wife's Lexus RX350 and not my  Ford Focus.
