The Sell off is Complete

Just a few months ago I opened up the safe and looked at the firearms in it along with others that were not in it.  Made a determination that I had firearms I hadn't shot in yrs. Took a deep breath and decided they were going to find new homes. And so it began, the sell off. Yesterday I sold the last rifle I didn't want to keep.  I sold a lot of Shotguns, deer rifles, handguns and my SMG all finding new owners. Sold at a peak market and done very well. Wife still says I have too many deer rifles, shotguns and handguns... My reply not as many. :)

This an impossible statement by your wife. It is a proven fact that a man can NEVER have too many firearms! ;):D

Well when I moved some into her office and put them in a closet she cleaned out from her teaching..... that is when the discussion took a turn . She knows what the UPS truck means.... Ammo.

I also ask her if all that shiny stuff on her degrees hanging on the walls was gold... if it was that could buy more guns and ammo.

now that she is retired she will have time to go shooting with you, so you will need twice as much ammo!!!

Well done! I can't seem to get off my butt and do the same thing. When I finally do I am sure my timing will suck price wise, unlike you hitting it right this year.  Bob

I did that a year or so ago, had some older military stuff I knew the kids would never shoot or even care about, bayonets ect, so sold them at a few shows to some WWII guys I knew would enjoy them, took the money and bought a few guns I knew the kids/grandkids would use......

Probably 85% of my collection never gets shot. Unless a gun is older and NIB/LNIB then it will get shot, at least a little. But, some I have countless copies of, just in different formats (different barrel lengths, stocks type, finishes, etc). So, after that initial shooting and cleaning, most just stay in the safe.If I were smart, I'd sell my Benelli M4 H2O (the real NP3 version) for an absolute mint right now but it was the one I always wanted. So, it sits in the same in NIB condition while I shoot the black version that is modified to be the same (with the obligatory 922r parts).
I'm in a harder spot than you though SelectFire. My old safe was getting too small back about a decade ago. So, my wife bought me a custom made to fit safe that was ~3x bigger than my previous one. Now it is full. I can't get her to give me any more real estate after that. LOL So, now I have mostly been "upgrading" my guns. Like recently I bought a Remington 700 Titanium to replace a "regular" one in the same caliber which I now am going to sell.
Fanatic collector of the 10mm auto.

Did you use some of the money to buy your 4th star?

I came close while I was furloughed it was actually the wife that talked me out of it realizing that after I got back to work I would have to fill those empty spots in the safes

Gunbroker had only 3 sales , 2 long guns and a scope mount. Man in charge of local gun range came to my house...I hunted with him., and purchased a pistol . Spread the word of the rest of my collection. He purchased a nice Model 65 4".

Warning, when you sell a gun in a short while you will have no gun and the money will be shot.

We have enough of each, still undecided which 10mm to buy.
