British Goodness from 1939

Belonged to some limey officer no doubt. She looks like new. Sweet double action and the finest sights ever on a military sidearm from WWII. Too bad about the .38/200 mess. Came with holster, lanyard, and cleaning rod too.

That's what the British called the caliber. Pretty much the same as a .38 Smith & Wesson, not the .38 Special.

I've never fired a .38 S&W but somehow ended up with a box of ammo. It's kinda on my wish list to pick up a Charter Pug or any S&W. I've never seen a gun with British proofs I didn't admire at least a little bit, so an Enfield would do.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly

I have a couple victories and a model 33 chambered for 38 S&W it is a good round for beginners moving up from rimfire. I gave a model 33 to my nephew a few years ago for his first handgun he has gotten quite good with it he keeps the rabbit population down with it

I've had a limey Victory Model and a W W II Enfield recently. Both in the aforementioned .38/200 cartridge. Nothing wrong with the cartridge, quite pleasant shooting. If your buying the stuff over the counter though? It's pricey  and can be hard to find.

Lucked out and found a 38 Special, Victory Model cylinder at a show for the Smith. Cut down  and reloaded a bunch of .38 Special brass for the Enfield. Till I got tired of it, and traded it off.

That's the first one I have ever seen that was not worn slick. They were pretty handsome old revolvers now that I've seen a good one.

A word about the .38/200 cartridge.  Yes, it was a .38 S&W- witha 200 grain bullet.
    See the source image
Understand it had a habit of deciding to travel sideways after impact- which made it modestly effective.

    Nice

I had one that was DA only and had plastic grips.  I handloaded ammo for it for about 2 years before I found out the bullet diameter is larger than a normal 38.  I got a new sizing die and a 180gr double bullet mold and found out it was fairly accurate.

Nice well built guns and that one looks really nice.

With the 38/200 you don't need tracers because you can just watch that big, heavy slug make its way downfield. I have a S&W breaktop which shoots the 200 gr. bullets about 2 feet high at 25 yds but is right on at 100. The 200 gr. loading was also called the 'Super Police' here in the states. The Enfield  was one of the nicest .38 S&W revolvers made.

38 - 200 with cast silver bullets is a perfect choice for dispatching Werewolves and Vampires !   :D
