The course started at my kitchen table where we went over basic safety and I drew on paper what an open sight, sight picture looks like. Then out to the range we went!!
I started Mike with an open sighted 10-22. After 80 rounds we went to a Ruger Mark III. Another 80 rounds went downrange. I than switched to a full sized Ruger 357 and he shot 12 38 Specials. At this point we went with Mike's 38 Special S+W bodyguard. Mike wasn't real happy with how he shot his Smith. It was about a 7 or 8 inch group. I than held the target up to my chest and he saw that every shot was a solid center mass hit. That put a smile on Mike's face!!
He now feels that, if he has to, at 20 feet or less he can hit a human size target. He went from really bad to hitting the target with most of his shots. I got informed that shooting is a lot of fun when you hit what you are shooting at. He is looking forward to our next range session!! So am I! I had a lot of fun!
