shotgun cheek pad?

I took the 1100 out yesterday to pattern it.  The patterns are fine except 2/3 of the pattern is below aiming point.   That won't work for hunting.   The gun comes level to my eye when I throw it up so I'm thinking of how to fix this.  My thinking is I add a self adhering cheek pad, that may do it.  The gun has a synthetic stock.

So does anyone have a recommendation on a pad for a synthetic stock and what thickness would be good to start with?

Brownells has the kickeeze brand in various thicknesses. As far as to how thick someone with better math skills than I would need to know the distance you were shooting. Bob

The distance from the bead to my eye is 38".  Using rough math that's 38 units in 40 yards.  So if I use 1/4" elevation that's 9 1/2 inches at 40 yards and 3/8" elevation would be 14 1/4 inches at 40 yards.   So about a 3/8" pad should work, maybe.  Better the pattern to be a little high than a little low.  Of course to much pad and I'll start getting lateral shift.   Toad the stock sock with different pads may be best  I was thinking something that stayed put well and didn't shift.  Wondering if the slip over would shift.   I've never used a cheek pad before so I was wondering what some of you may use.

 What I've done in the past is make a buildup of cork gasket material and double face tape. The same can be done with close cell foam. Doesn't have to be any given shape since all you're doing is determining thickness. If you try this I suggest sticking the first strips of tape to your pant leg prior to sticking it to the stock so it doesn't leave adhesive residue or lift finish when you peel it off.

I ordered the bear tooth kit.  I figure it will let me know if this works and if I don't want to keep it on the shotgun for bird hunting I can put it on when the cantilever slug barrel is on.

williams used to make a set of fiber optic/iron sights that bolted on the vent rib and were adustable,I have used them on a winchester 140 for slug hunting, just a thought.....
