Updating internet service after 20+ years

beneteaubeneteau Member Posts: 8,552 ✭✭✭
Had nothing available for many years except Centurylink dsl.  Now, Cspire (fiber optic) is installing main underground cables, with individual service within 3-4 more weeks (hopefully).  One gig of speed compared to my current 10Mbps.  No need for modem and will replace my router after 13 years.  Already bought a new router.  Can't wait for the changeover.

Great news and I am jealous. Like you I have been stuck with Centurylink DSL. I would be ecstatic if I got your 10mbps speed. I only get 3 and the centurylink techs are surprised it is that fast. No cable, iffy cell phone reception, Dish not dependable, the joys of living in the country. Bob

It won't be long until you can get Starlink service.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

"Terrain related"??  No, it's all those 4k large screen TVs people bring home from Costco and suck up all the bandwidth.  Enjoy the fiber speeds!
Curious, is "Beneteau" a reference to sail boats?  I used to race a 54' sloop and Beneteau was a common competitor.  They make a darn nice rig!

Yes,  Always liked the name Beneteau.  Wife and I owned a 24.5 Beneteau  and our last one was a 285 Beneteau.  Sold it when we bought our house.
