last few years I have been making displays in the yard for halloween, I use pumpkins and put plastic pipe in them to make arms, legs.  we have a 3ft tall pottery bear on the steps leading up to the front porch, he is usually in it also, once he had a bow and shot a pumpkin I had put antlers on. Last year he had a shotgun and was leading two pumpkins with spider legs on leashes. This year he is the executioner holding rope to guilletine with the jack-o-lantenr head in his other hand, made the guilletine out of scrap lumber laying around the garage, started as a way to aggrevate the lady across the street, now she takes picture of them and we have a few other neighbors starting their own displays......   this is what happens when your retired and bored

No offense but I don't understand Halloween.........I liked it as a kid because.......FREE CANDY. Now I dislike it becasue...........COMMERCIALIZED PAGAN HOLIDAY. Just to show that I am an equal opportunity disliker............I also dislike Valentine's Day, Easter (although I celebrate the resurrection), Fourth of July (I celebrate our independence EVEN AS WE LOSE IT BIT BY BIT), and Thanksgiving (Glad the Pilgrims made it here)..............because holidays now are not promoted for gathering of community or family celebration..................these holidays have become commercialized excercises to see how much money stupid people will spend on them. And yes, I also include the biggest one of all...........CHRISTMAS although I certainly celebrate the birth of my savior.

I guess I am just old enough to be cynical but not old enough to be retired and bored.

Here’s one in a hay field off my bus route. Not close to any houses. The kids love it!

I want to build one with a tombstone and a Hillary Clinton head and body coming up out of the grave. That would be scary!
