I shoot my red dot both eyes open and target focused (as he describes).

Exactly what he was explaining- never heard that from a bullseye shooter before! If started doing this in 1990 he was/is way ahead of his time.

The same applies for rifle/shotgun shooting. Always keep both eyes open. It takes a bit of work to get used to, but it works.  My FIL was the national skeet shooting champion for a few years, he used to put a piece of scotch tape over your offside eye  on your shooting glasses to train you to keep both eyes open without focusing with the off-side eye more than the dominant side eye.  Notice the blinder on the that guys glasses on the off-side (non-dominant) eye?

I took a Zins/Moody class at the Canton McKinley shooting range about 10 years back.  Both were AWESOME gentlemen and I sure learned a lot from them.  My nemesis was timed and rapid fire.  I was really good at slow fire.  The things I learned from them at class got my timed and rapid scores up by 10 points or more.  Too bad the neck surgery turned me into a crippled wimp that can't hold one handed worth a tinkers darn any more.   Shooting with Zins, Moody and Karl Woerner (Perry Shooter) are very fond memories.  I learned a lot from these fine gentlemen.

Pistol is ALL trigger control, trigger control and then toss in some trigger control.

Did you note his 'blinder' for his non-dominant eye?  That 'trick' is older than I am (I think it harkens back to the days of Harry Pope).  It allows the 'weak' eye to be open but not focused in any manner.  It also allows the muscles to not strain trying to keep that eye shut.  Mr Zins is playing in a whole 'nother' arena than most of us and being relaxed is just one of the many subtle 'thing's that leads toward success.
