gun sled for sighting

What do you use for sighting in a rifle? Im looking for something that will mount to bench and hold rifle to dial in. What do you use?

Never cared for using one for sighting in most rifles, at least not for final sighting.  The gun recoils differently than when being shot off a human shoulder.  Not necessarily better or worse, just different, and that will affect where the bullet winds up.

I've always just used my range bag or a sandbag and my left hand at the toe of the stock.

I don't care for them either, I like bags and cradles. The sleds change the eye relief too much for me with the higher powered scopes, and I have to lean forward enough that it doesn't feel normal.

I have an original Caldwell lead sled. The only thing I like is the front rest that you can screw up and down for elevation. Also, it’s adequate for bore sighting a rifle.

Jim Deere is right. The Caldwell lead sled is also my first choice. The second choice the Deathgrip Bog tripod. If I had to buy one or the other, it would be the tripod. I also like a big hug homemade target. Missing the target completely is a wasted shot.

I have an original Lead Sled . Works great if you have multiple guns to do in a short time . Otherwise I prefer sand bags and a good bench

That would be an interesting experiment.  Please do that and then check the zero from a regular rest.  Let us know the results.

Call me ancient, but any sighting/adjusting I have done has been rifle to shoulder standing or sitting with nothing to hold the firearm.  This is how I will be shooting when rubber meets the road.  That way my tendency to shoot low and to the right is taken into account.  With that being said, I hunt with my 30.06 I inherited when my Dad passed away.  He killed many deer with it so I trusted it was spot on.  I am aware of how I shoot so I put my trust in Dad and his zero of the scope and just use it.  Anything else I shoot, I aim a little high and to the left since I know when I pull the trigger its going to slip a little low and right.  Weird but how I roll.
