son ventured out into 8 inch depth snow,  howling winds  and 10 degree weather to bring down this nice 6x6 bull.  a real heavyweight, will provide many fine meals this upcoming year.

300 win mag  180 grain winchester load.  winchester model 70 stalker[synthetic] topped with a bushnell 4-12x50  i think scope.  shot at 270 yards initially to put down,  and walked up to 100 yards when bull arose and received the final putdown shot.  all within 3/4 mile of his house.  was able to get the bucket tractor to kill site, load it onto the tractor to bring home for processing after checkin.

Sweet!!  When I was young I would have been envious of such an excellent elk!!  Now I am far more envious of his physical ability to go out and hunt that elk in those type of conditions.

As my mother has told me, repeating it a few days ago at 93, old age is not for sissies!!!

Gotta ask, is this the son that was competing in the highland games??
