I have always liked the Nitty Gritty Dirt Bands version of Mr. Bo Jangles.  Heck! I also liked that song "Daisy A Day" by the late great Jud Strunk!

Saw him a several times in TX, his music was typical of the Austin Texas genre: folksy, C&W mix, with a dash of rock and blues which evolved in the early 70s. JJW along with a few other seldom known musicians outside TX originated the Austin Texas sound. Still have some of his LPs from years past. On one occasion JJW was quite inebriated managed to put on a good show .
It was much later Willie Nelson and others made their way to Austin and Austin music has since disappeared.

We saw him only once, several years ago, when he performed at the Greenville Municipal Auditorium, in Greenville, Texas.  He was alone, no band, no backup, no one but him and his guitar.  He did a decent show, but he had an attitude, as though he really didn't want to be there.

I remember back probably in the 80's. A group had a hit song and a part of that song they mentioned "Jerry Jeff Walkers" name.  Does anyone have a memory of this?  Of course I sometimes remember things  that maybe never happened.

Never saw him, but I always really loved his song.  Has to be one of the best of all time, and so many great singers paid him the biggest tribute by singing Mr. Bojangles as well.  Does it get any better than that?:

I liked 'London Homesick Blues" 
"Pubbin" became an interesting thing to do for myself and a few others on several trips to London.  Wearing cowboy boots most of my life, and after purchasing a pint on one of the pubs, the bartender played that song for us. All attention by the locals was on us yanks, had a good time there. 
That was over 30 year ago.  Today London is a leftist &^%$# hole.

I could get use to the song that David posted about, which brought back memories of Dad and I in Beaumont, or on the road in some pool hall with domino tables.  He liked to play dominoes as I shot some pool at least once or twice a week while having a couple of beers after supper.  Damn he was good at the game.  Thanks for all the good times, Dad.
