LED flood lights?

BikerBobBikerBob Member Posts: 2,745 ✭✭✭

Looking to upgrade a couple of burned out Halogens at our local trap field. We shoot games in the evenings, and we noticed a couple of halogens that didn’t come on.

I figures if we need to replace them, we should look at current technology LEDs, even the the cost may be higher, operational costs will be a lot less.

Anyone have any experience/recommendations lighting a trap field with LEDs mounted just back behind the 30 yd line?

We replaced our tower lights for all of our fire trucks from halogen to led . Predictably amp load fell to less than 1/4 of what it had been pulling . Scenes are twice as bright and no shadows or weak spots in the light field

I replaced the bulbs in the motion detecting lights around the house, from halogen PAR38 floods to LED floods.  I bought the crazy bright 3,000 lumen bulbs and they light up the critters just fine.  Get the "warm white" color, around 2700k.  The 4,000k bulbs are that nasty blue/white color.
One thing I found, in each pair of bulbs if I used both the same type of bulb that pair would flash continuously.  So I bought some 2,200 lumen bulbs of a different brand and mixed them up, stopped the flashing.  I've used them a couple winters and they seem durable enough, but the heavy winds unscrew them in their housings.

Some of the LED bulbs, particularly if they are matched with an older motion detector or light sensor will not work. They blink and flicker.

All the lights in our house are LED. I like them. Would like to replace the head lights in. car and PU with LEDs

In your car, don't stop with headlights. Do all the interior ones, too. YUGE improvement. See Youtube for reviews.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

Our Ring lights are all LED, the lights are great, wish the sensors did not detect every passing cat and dove, not to mention cars passing in the street.

Interior LED's are popular on the various car enthusiast forums. I personally am not a fan. I really don't want bright LED warehouse lighting inside my vehicle.

I changed the headlights in my Rover to LED and they make massive light, but they're not warm enough to melt the snow off when I drive in a storm.

We have LED units on our indoor trap field.  4 units with 4 arrays on each unit.  Does a pretty good job.

So I have to ask, how big is an indoor trap field and what stops the shot. I'm going to assume the shot size is probably limited to 8 and 7 1/2s.

It is sized to ATA specifications. We can shoot ATA, Olympic Bunker Trap, 5 stand and skeet. We limit shells to #7 steel shot < 1325 fps. The walls are lined with a proprietary ballistic cloth. Really great to be able to shoot a few rounds after work then go back upstairs for a few cold ones!! 😁

I will not be thinking fond thoughts of your facility when I am out in the snow this winter wasting a few shells at wind blown targets.😁 Bob

Looks very nice. That would be handy, especially in less than optimal weather and after the time change effecting outdoor range time.

So this is the culmination of the build that you had shared some time back?

In addition to the shotgun field we have 3 indoor 100 yd rifle lanes 16 25 yd rifle / pistol lanes and 16 15 yard pistol lanes. The downstairs retail and shooting lanes along with the 30-yard indoor archery range, virtual firearm and archery simulators are all open to the public while the upstairs lanes, lounge & restaurant are for members only. Our 10,000 sq ft event facility regularly hosts Banquets for NRA, NWTF along with Wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners and concerts. There was even a Trump rally with Donald Jr a few weeks ago out on the shotgun field.

Sounds like the ultimate man cave!

I’m guessing it’s set up with card/badge entry programmed to keep you out of the range and lockers after the card was used in the bar area?
