have any wildcat chamberings come out of the WSM cartridges? im not up to speed on newer wildcats

If I recall correctly I have heard of .257WSM, 6.5WSM and 358WSM. Not sure of the need for the wildcats as both my 270WSM and 300WSM have proved to be both accurate and deadly. I guess some may enjoy the development of new and unique cartridges. Bob
I am stuck in 1969 with the 25/06. One of these days an ammunition manufacturer will make a more ballistic coefficient quarter bore bullet that flies easier.
.257 WBY is a great cartridge. And 25-06 will match it step for step IMHO.
As with every other cartridge design released in the last 30 years or so, the WSM cases were necked up and down in about 15 minutes. If you look hard enough you will find every caliber which is safe, made from this case. I have done the .375 WSM down to the 6mm WSM. I skipped the .22 caliber version in favor of using the .223 WSSM. Larger than the .375 and the case capacity leaves a lot to be desired. Those in between though have been very interesting to play with over the years.
There is the .25 caliber, 131 grain Blackjack ACE bullet which has been in production for about 2 years now.
I've used these bullets in several cartridges with chambers cut for this bullet design. The design is super accurate and even though listed as a Match bullet works quite well as a hunting bullet, from personal experience. I have a .25 WSM throated for this bullet which I use in 1,000 yard competitions.
Best.
I sure appreciate that information. Going to run the numbers on it.
The advent of this heavy-for-caliber, high BC, .25 caliber bullet has been more fun to work with than any bullet I remember for a long time. The price is reasonable, the inventors offer chamber reamers and barrels dedicated to these bullets saving you the hassle of locating both and waiting for them to be manufactured. Yes, they add a little mark up but they put their money out to have a supply on hand.
I've gone as small as the 25 x 47 (6.5 x 47 Lapua) and as big as the .257 Weatherby which is nothing short of amazing on deer! The x47 is a little under powered for my needs. The .25 Creedmoor version is excellent also.
Best.
I have always been interested in the 25-06.
The .25-06 has always been on the top of the quarter bore list for most people. And for good reason, it's a superb cartridge usable for both hunting and varmints (controlled firing rate, of course).
Don't forget the mildcat .25-284 which performs with nearly the same ballistics. It's an easy neck down from any quality 6.5-284 brass.
Best.
Love my wildcat. 6 X 284
A cartridge that was a wildcat in the beginning but later factory mass produced is no longer a wildcat.
2 cents.
