10, 12 years ago I had a lot of screeching blue jays living in my cedar trees and a lot of mocking birds nesting in my wife's hydrangeas and other ornamental shrubs. And then there were none. I didn't see a blue jay for years altho I would see an occasional mockingbird. Starting this spring I started seeing flashes of blue in my area. About a month ago what must be a couple of families have moved back into my cedar trees.
I would never have thought I would miss those loud screeching blue jays but hearing all that noise and seeing all that pretty blue, I'm really glad they are back!!!

you can have some of the ones are here ,
They are in my cedar trees where my 40 rabbit pens are. So I'm out there a lot. Are they noisy?? Oh God yes but if you want to send some more jays this way, go for it!
I would love to if I could , every morning there is a steady flight of them coming up to steal dog food from our out side dog and even worst is , he lets them have at it
ive not noticed much of a decrease in the population of those birds over the last several years here on the gulf coast. population has seemed fairly stable to me. love mockingbirds, not so much jays. here they are mortal enemies, jays spend a lot of time trying to steal mockingbird hatchlings. mockingbirds are fearless defenders of their young and much better fliers than the jays.
When I was a youngster , Grandpa paid a bounty on every blue jay i shot . He hated them as they picked the pecans off the trees
I noticed more bluejays this year. They used to be thick here, looks like they are rebounding.
Love those Jays. We have just started having scub jays come for a coupla weeks in Oct. after 5 years of no jays.
We used to have several Blue Jays nesting in our woods. This year I only saw one all year so far.
The worst was when some of the mockingbirds thought it was fun to mimic the jays. Like screeching jays in stereo.
All the corvids got hit very hard by West Nile. Here, magpies were nearly wiped out. They are sloooowly coming back.
