Good luck finding ammo, it is as scarce as hens teeth and insanely priced.
As a side note; I hope you get training and learn gun handling safety if you are new to the shooting sports. Carrying a gun involves awesome responsibility and you must learn to do so with safety first. Handling your firearm is a learned process, it takes hundreds of rounds to become proficient with any firearm, especially a new one for a new shooter. The best first rule is to keep your booger hook off the bang switch until you intend to discharge the firearm and never point it at something you do not intend to shoot.
It never fails to amaze me that folks will come on the forums of a firearms auction site and ask where they can buy something firearm related...
How much 9mm do you need?
Here are 3812 current auctions right here in our backyard. Yes, you may pay a little more, but it is available right here, right now.
I'm also surprised that folks post up links to competing sites with no consequence.
Welcome to the forum.
There is a lot of brands and for range fodder, you can run what ever you can find. Currently ammunition is in short supply do to high demands. As far as what is the best brand, that is what ever runs best through your pistol and is accurate enough for your purposes.
What I have been shooting is Federal 124gr solids and Federal 124gr HST. I use the cheaper solids for range practice and the HST ammo for carry purposes or as home protection. Of course you should run some of your carry ammo through your pistol at the range to make sure 1) your pistol will run it and 2) is is accurate. I find using the above that both ammunitions hit in the same point if impact`and that is one reason I chose those.
If you stay on the forum there is a lot of knowledge to be shared and we would enjoy hearing about your experiences as well.
Most of the Ruger P series pistols are built like a tank. You should get a lot of service. I recently gave my son a p85 with 7 magazines and it ran the above mentioned ammo fine.
It's not easy finding 9mm. I reload, and the price of gun powder is killing me but you can't shoot without it. I'm paying $50 a pound for the powder. CRAZY
Cleaning out some "stuff" and came across 25 round boxes of reloads that were marked $6😲
