It muffles the wind chime.

Holy crap, when I first looked at the title I thought it said freezing frog. So then I had to open it up and see what you could do with a frozen frog. It sucks getting old and senile.
Joe

I drove over Cabbage Hill one afternoon when there were freezing fog conditions and it was a pretty hairy ride. There was about and inch of ice formed up on the leading edge of the antenna on my pickup and about that much on any other leading edge that stayed at all cool. Beautiful to look at from inside a warm house, a bugger to drive in!
Hoar frost!
We get quite a few of those every year, in west central/ sw Iowa.
Everything looks like the tree/shrub in the background of your pictures.
Looks like those flocked Christmas trees.
We had freezing fog here in Yakima last night. Almost looked like snow falling in the air.
Possible that it is rime frost, not hoar? Similar but different.
Experts please?
Well, thanks for the education. I love things like this. Had to look it up.
Thank you, sir!
Quite welcome. I had always heard it called rime ice and that is what I called it.
Before I got my foot in my mouth I had to look up the definitions of both. They seem to look the same but are formed in a different way. Lots of the stuff around here this AM above 4000 feet. We have mostly rime ice since elevations change in just a few miles. Head in the clouds/fog one minute then clear sailing below.
Had a temp inversion the other day, 45 * at 4000 and above and 20* to 30* in the low areas.
Anyone here see lakes turn over? Happens at least twice a year near here.
But the frog is OK?😧
It's been cold and frosty, but no snow.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
