I might have figured out why my Border Collie has nightmares!!

So I shook Bella awake, after she woke me up, whining beside me from a nightmare and she said in a horrified voice "I dreamed you brought home a bag of Ol' Roy!!!!!" 😁
This would be a nightmare to my spoiled dogs but seriously, what can scare a dog so bad that a full blown nightmare is the result?? I've witnessed some really bad nightmares over the years.

They dream they’re protecting us from lions, tigers, and bears.
This dog is dreaming for sure!

Jim, that might be it. Bella's concept of being protective is to scream "Get the gun!!" as she flies past me heading for the bedroom so she can hide. Brave is not in her vocabulary!! 😁
You have a talking dog and your biggest concern is what sort of dreams it has?
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
That's sad to watch. I wonder what horrible thing had happened to him in his past and at who's or what's hand.
A dream like that comes from first hand experience, must have been painful. poor guy.
Animals dream just like humans do in a sleep state...........it's that period of time that lets the brain decompress and re-set.
our last rescue dog Macie she sleep with me , I think she had a tough life before she would flinch every time we would reach to pet her ( she has got a lot better but still does tense up some times ) also at night she has dreams / night frights
whimpering whining some times a little growling . she does wake up and I just say your ok girl, maybe pet on her a bit to calm her back down she does not do it as often any more but still has them . I can only image what she is dreaming
also from what I can tell to make her ears stand up her previous POS owner had pinned her ears together above her head so they would grow that way each ear is a bit deformed at the base and each ear when placed together has a small nick or cut about 85% to the top where they had been pinned stapled ? together
